Day 5&6 in Peru

February 5&6 were in Lima. We arrived in the evening of the 4th, got settled and off for supper. Rotisserie chicken over wood fire. Wow.
Then off to church in the morning at Communida Reto Eglesia Cristiana Hermanos Menonitos [Community Challenge (or Total Reconciliation) Christian Church of the Mennonite Brethren]. What a wonderful time of worship in Spanish. After a great lunch of Chinese and Peruvian food, the church leadership gave a report. Wow, does this little congregation of 50-70 people have far reach. They have people visiting the Amazon area 4 times/year. In addition they are connected with a community in poverty and also a children's hospital. They have some aggressive young people leading the church and engage government grant writing to secure finances to do their outreach.
On Monday we had opportunity to go to the top of the city and pray. What a privilege to do so.  Many prayers came to heart as we looked over the vast area.
Main plaza of Lima. Both the President and the Arch Bishop live in building surrounding the Plaza.

Close quarter housing is a result of people from interior Peru moving to find work in Lima.
Here is a short video from the a hilltop in Lima to show you how vast the city is and their issue with smog.
