SOAR Reflections

The moment they saw him they worshiped him. Some, though, held back, not sure about worship, about risking themselves totally. -- Matthew 28:17

Today we remember 'He is Risen!'

Though some of us may hold back... unsure if we can really trust Jesus with our lives... Jesus doesn't hold back from us. He loves, forgives, heals, empowers, sustains and gives us hope.

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” -- Matthew 28:18-20

As disciples we are commissioned as we go... doubts and all. Yesterday, I said farewell to over 300 SOAR Heartland participants and two weeks ago to over 45 SOAR Saskatchewan participants who all have been commissioned to go out as disciples who make disciples! Post-program crashes await many. Doubts will come along. It is the morning after SOAR today, and I'm sure for many doubts are knocking on the door of some hearts and minds already.

However, we are ONE body with MANY parts. Mentors, parents, and faithful friends are journeying with each SOAR participant, with each of us.  Together, we are ONE church with MANY parts. One God, One Hope, One Spirit.

So today, Easter Sunday, I am filled with so much hope as I imagine the impact for the Kingdom this generation will have as they go forward commissioned by the Creator of the universe, the great 'I Am', the ONE who took human form to live among us and show us the way and make the way possible.
