“Culture eats strategy for breakfast” - Peter Drucker
This phrase originated with Peter Drucker and was made famous by Mark Fields, President at Ford. It is amazing how much of our Christian cultures around the world reflect the cultures of the community. A simple example is church leadership structures tend to reflect business leadership models of our region.
Paul reminds us in Romans 12:1-3 (MSG)
“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
Recently, Carol and I were guest teachers at the Matthew Training Centre in Jalisco Mexico near Guadalajara. Working through translation, hand gestures and diagrams we were both instructors and learners simultaneously. We have so much to learn about the character of God through our Columbian and Mexican disciples. We are family around the globe that love Jesus, love one another and have so much to learn from each other. May God grant us the humility to receive from one another! I’ve attached a few pictures of our latest travels to give you a sense of Centro Mateo and the vibrant student community.
